Map Your Attack Surface More Effectively with Organization Enhancements
At Halo Security, we know that effectively managing your attack surface starts with understanding how it's structured. That's why we're excited to announce significant improvements to our Organizations feature, designed to help you better visualize your digital footprint.
Multiple Organization Views: See Your Assets How You Want
One size doesn't fit all when it comes to organizing your attack surface. With our latest update, you can now create multiple Organization graphs to reflect different hierarchies within your environment.
We've added two default views to get you started:
- Domain-based organization - perfect for teams that manage multiple domains across different business units
- Geographic organization - ideal for enterprises with assets distributed across various regions
This flexibility means you can switch between different views depending on your current focus, whether you're conducting regional security assessments or examining domain-specific vulnerabilities.
Enhanced Visualization Options
Sometimes a tree structure isn't the most efficient way to view your organization. That's why we've added a nested list view as an alternative to our default tree structure. This compact format makes it easier to scan through large organizational structures at a glance.
For those who prefer the traditional tree view, we've made significant design improvements:
- Search functionality that lets you quickly locate specific nodes within your organization
- Branch collapsing to declutter your view and focus on the areas of interest
- Zoom and scroll options to make it easier to navigate complex hierarchies
Streamlined Organization Building
Building your organizational structure should be straightforward. We've revamped the organization creation process to make it more intuitive. Drag and drop nodes into place, easily add subnodes, and rename nodes all at once. These improvements significantly reduce the time it takes to build and maintain accurate representations of your attack surface.
Coverage Visibility
You can now view domains that are not accounted for in your organizational hierarchy. This helpful feature ensures you've properly mapped your full attack surface to your organization structure, preventing assets from falling through the cracks.
By highlighting unassigned domains, the system helps you maintain a complete view of your digital footprint, ensuring all assets are properly categorized within your organizational framework.
Improved Owner Attribution
These new features make it easier to track who on your team is responsible for specific assets. By identifying and linking individual or organizational ownership to resources within your attack surface, you can quickly determine who should be securing and managing those assets.
This ownership mapping is crucial for effective risk management - when security issues arise, there's no confusion about who needs to take action. The real power comes when you combine organization nodes with Automations, enabling you to automatically assign issues to the right person based on your organizational structure.
For example, if a vulnerability is detected on a domain owned by your marketing team, it can be instantly routed to their security contact without manual intervention. You can even configure automations to create and assign Jira tickets to the appropriate team members, streamlining your remediation workflow and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. This integration between organizational structure and ticketing systems eliminates the manual work of determining ownership and creating tickets, saving valuable time during security incidents.
